Wondrous Worlds is a system-neutral worldbuilding sourcebook for tabletop RPGs, built for the macro scale: realms, regions, and the forces that shape them. This is the instant-download digital edition.
Zoom Out
Most worldbuilding tools start with a tavern. This one starts with a continent. Wondrous Worlds walks you through designing realms and the regions inside them, then works out how the land itself shapes the people living on it.
You will build environments and follow their consequences, the trade routes and resources that make a region worth fighting over, the politics that grow out of that, and the magical and monstrous threats that hang over it all. The result is a world where the pieces explain each other rather than sitting side by side.
Landmarks and Points of Interest
Think of every notable place on your map as a point of interest, and there are three kinds: landmarks, settlements, and destinations. Landmarks live here, so alongside the macro work you get the standing stones, ruined towers, and strange natural features that give a region its character.
Drawing the Map
A full section covers hand-drawing your world map, including the iconography you can use to fill it out yourself. If you have ever wanted to draw your own world map and not known where to start, this chapter is for you.
Where It Sits in the Series
Wondrous Worlds is the widest lens of three. Spectacular Settlements handles a single town, village, or city. Dangerous Destinations handles a single site, a crypt, a hideout, a camp. Use all three and you can build downward from the continent to the room. A handful of worked examples are included, but the weight of the book is on the tables and the guidance.
Why the PDF
Search the whole book for a term instead of hunting through chapters, keep it open on a second monitor while you write campaign notes, and copy tables straight into your own documents or a virtual tabletop.

The content of this work is second to none. Nord Games is the best at making this kind of support book for Dungeons and Dragons. Beautiful books full of useful content. And lots of fun. I would have given five stars, except that this nearly 300 page PDF did not have any bookmarks! This irked me so much I almost gave it three stars, but your work is just too good for anything less than 4.
