It's been a few years since I purchased this book.
I'll admit that I was excited about it then, but never got a chance to use it.
Now? I love it. I have a table of players that want to do some crafting and really enjoy this kind of material.
The one thing I'm not sold on is the ranking system. I would like to see something that helps guide how proficiency and expertise with tools fits into this if you elect not to use the alternate attainment system.
Perhaps proficiency means that are automatically an Expert and expertise means that are an Artisan. Or the alternate attainment system means that at level 6 with expertise they should be treated as an Artisan (level 11).
Other than that, I would absolutely buy again and recommend it to anyone who is interested in using these mechanics in their game.
This is a great addition to the game, and it gives players a way of making their own items which is great.
The book is well presented. Great first chapter regarding the Alchemist unions. It is a treasure trove of crafted manic to add to any campaign. Definitely something to add to any and all fantasy games.
Alchemy and crafting are two of the areas where 5e is woefully under-developed and this book goes a long, long way to filling in the much needed gaps for players (and DMs) who want a more robust system for crafting skills.
This is an amazing product, full of interesting and great ideas for magic item crafting. The book is fantastic all its art work of items.
I also think the price is perfect for what is included in this PDF.
